He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with Honours in Business Finance, followed by a Law degree from the University of Witwatersrand. He also completed a Master’s in Banking Law with a focus on international banking, achieving a top-of-the-class award.
Matthew began his professional journey in 2016, starting his own legal practice and gaining invaluable experience over a decade. His critical thinking and solution-oriented approach have been crucial in navigating complex legal landscapes. His lifelong passion for sailing, sparked at age 10, fueled his transition to maritime law. Representing South Africa as a junior sailor, Matthew’s love for the sea has always been intertwined with his professional pursuits.
To further his maritime credentials, Matthew undertook the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers’ professional qualification and completed a foundation diploma in the legal principles of shipping business. These qualifications enable him to think outside the box for bespoke solutions while appreciating the value of established charter parties.
